Introducing What Would You Do With It Wednesday

I am so excited to announce my idea for a guest post feature here on The Country Chic Cottage.  I am calling it What Would You Do With It Wednesday.
So what is this all about you ask?  I will be glad to tell you!  Here’s how it works…

If you agree to guest blog for this special Wednesday feature, you need to come up with an item that you want some advice on or you don’t know what it is or you don’t know what in the world to do with it. The item can be anything at all. Some ideas:
· A yard of fabric
· Dowels
· Candlestick
· Birdcage
· Furniture
· Wall layout
· Display help
· Something you found in the trash
· A weird thrift store find that you have no clue even what it is
· Really ANYTHING goes!

The first Wednesday, you send me pictures of your item along with a little intro to you and your blog. You can describe your item, how you got it, what you are thinking needs to be done, anything you want to write – just be sure to ask “What would you do with it?”.
The second Wednesday, you show us what you did with it. Maybe you followed the advice, maybe you didn’t…but let us know! Just type up a post and send it to me. Include what you ended up doing and the inspiration that led you there. And of course we all love pics! If you don’t completely finish your project, don’t worry. Show us your progress and let us know what your plans are. You can highlight the finished project on your blog at a later date if you would like.
All I ask is that you link to The Country Chic Cottage on your blog during your Wednesday guest appearance.
Sound like fun to you? Wanna participate?  Then drop me an email and let’s schedule you for a What Would You Do With It Wednesday!

Okay I am going to go first!
I have two of these old pepper mills....
They came from the thrift store for 50 cents a piece and I just like the shape.  That turned wood look is just awesome.  They do come apart...
I think something quite awesome could come out of these.  Anything goes -- I am not afraid to cut them up, paint them, transform them completely -- I mean they were 50 cents each.  So....
What would you do with it?
Come back next Wednesday to see what I decided to do with em!
And email me at thecountrychiccottage@yahoo.com if you would like to schedule your thrift store find for a What Would You Do With It Wednesday.

what an awesome idea! I have the perfect item that I have no idea of what to do with and really need some ideas..I will email you at a later date though...I'm still in a bit of a crafting funk and haven't posted on my craft blog in some time...also getting ready to go on vaca in less than two weeks, but will definitely take you up on this

oops forgot to comment on your "what would you do with it" items

first thing that comes to mind is to paint them with the cracked paint effect and make them look weathered and worn

I have nothing new and original for these. I guess I have a junker's block! :)
I have candlesticks on the brain lately, so that's all I can think of. Turquoise. with a glaze. Told you, nothing new or original!

ps I would like to join in on your what would you do at a later date though

I think several coats of paint distressed some and either leave the tops off and add candles. But if you could find a metal Finial or a funky door know for the tops. Good luck! I will be checking back for sure.

what a great idea! Love all your creations! So cute!

What a great idea for guest posting... Hm, have I got anything I have no ideas for? Probably.

As regards the pepper mills - I am thinking candlesticks. Possibly add a little wooden plate at the top to rest a candle on.

What a clever idea! Me, I would paint them white, shabby them up a bit and get to work stamping some pretty script lettering on them!

I think they would make great pedistals. Maybe glue the wooden base of a cheese dome on top. Then you could use it as a cloche. I would put some kind of base on it for stability and of course, spray paint it and distress it!

I don't have an idea for the pepper mills, but I NEED an idea for something I got today. I'm going to go take pics and email you!

Great idea! I would love to do something for this. I have tons of stuff I have no idea what to do with. It'll be tricky trying to pick one thing, though!

I love all the ideas up there. The shapes are awesome. I would definitely add some paint. I like the cloche idea! Good luck!

I'm excited to see what you do with them!
