Nashville Tennessee Staycation 2011

Welcome to the Year of the Staycation!  I am participating in a group project on The Happy Housewife and Springs Bargains!  There are 100 bloggers posting about free and inexpensive ideas in areas all over the country!  Be sure to check back here tomorrow.  I will have a post up with all of the links so you can easily access the Staycation of your dreams!  All but 2 states are included so there should be tons of fun stuff to be found!  With the price of gas this year, I figured this was something we could all use!
So let’s start our exploration of Nashville, Tennessee!

Located right next to the park above.  Now open everyday Monday through Sunday 8 am to 5 pm.  Something for everyone!  Food, plants, games, and fun!
One of the largest museums in the nation plus free admission!  Learn about history, people, places, artifacts, and so much more!
Check out the website for current offerings.  You can find everything for children and adults!  The fun includes concerts, festivals, tours, plus much more!  The Parthenon is located in Centennial Park and can be toured for a small fee.

Check the calendar of event for free museum and garden guided tours.  Enjoy Cheekwood for free this summer!

Part of Nashville’s parks system.  Don’t miss this Nashville landmark!

Be sure to take a spin while you are in downtown Nashville!  The kids will love it!
Second longest running radio show in history.  Live audience show every Saturday at midnight.  Admission is free at the Texas Troubadour Theatre.
Connecting Downtown Nashville to Music Row the Walk of Fame is about a mile along Demonbreun Street.

 must catch some country music while in Nashville!  Check out the songwriter’s clubs that have free admission.

Thursday and Friday evening enjoy live music in the grand lobby of the Frist Center.

The first Thursday of every month you can explore art around Nashville for free!
Saturdays in the summer.  Get free dance lessons and dance the night away in Centennial Park!
Second Friday of every month, the dyer obervatory has free telescope nights for star gazers!
First Saturday of every month, art galleries open for free from 6 to 9 pm.  There is even a free shuttle to get around to all the galleries!
Nine acres of indoor gardens and waterfalls to explore any day of the week!  Charge for parking at the hotel.
