The Nester issued a wreath challenge and I had to step up to the plate!!
The challenge is to make a wreath out of something unexpected. So my wheels started turning and I came up with all sorts of ideas! So we are going to have Wreath Week here on the CCC! I will post 3 wierd wreaths and Friday you can vote for your fave! The one that gets the most votes I will link up with the Nester! Sound like fun? Let's get started!!
First up is my Rummikub tile wreath! Okay the slick white of these tiles plus the typography has my smitten!! I bought up a few games here and there and decided that this challenge was the perfect excuse to put them to work!
What game?? Never heard of Rummikub?? Surely you can find one at your local thrift store. Look for boxes like this....
Yep those tiles! You have probably seen them somewhere before. Next problem -- as another challenge to myself I was trying to not buy ANYTHING for this challenge. I did not have an appropriate wreath or circle form. Enter cardboard...
I took two plates and traced them onto an empty box...
Cut around the circles...and we have a wreath form (or the substitute for one!!). It work remarkably well. After you layer on your tiles you cannot move this wreath. This cardboard piece is just a circle to guide you and something to glue your first layer to.
First step, pick a year or a meaningful number and set those tiles aside. You can use the faces too if you want. I picked "1994" cause that is our anniversary!
I laid out my tiles first to get a feel for spacing and angle. Then just hot glue your first row down....I then laid out and glued a second row....
See how there was a gap in my first row that one tile would not fit in. I just covered that when I did my second row and things worked out fine...
I used the ENTIRE box of tiles. I literally had 2 tiles left. I just kept layering -- 4 layers of tiles. Offsetting them slightly...
I used a ribbon at the top to hang it on the door...
And after you get your 4 layers of tiles on, then attach your special number...
So what do you think?? Wierd material wreath #1 done and complete!!
I heart those creamy white tiles...seriously ca-ute!!

CUTE! I used the same wreath form technique for the wreath I'm planning on posting about next week. Isn't it a simple set up? Love yours!

Neat idea!
That is SOOOO fun!!! We used to play Rack rummy EVERY night when visiting my Grandpa in Kentucky. What a fun idea! I'll have to find a different rummy set since mine is handed down from my grandpa when he passed away.
this is so cool! Love it!
I would love it if you would share this and/or any other projects you have been up to at Tuesday Talent Show at Chef In Training! Plus there is a fun giveaway too! Thanks so much and I hope to see you there!
