Hello all you Country Chic Cottage Readers! I'm Allison and I blog over at It's Toile Good. I'm super pumped to be here for Angie's Handmade Holidays! I love giving and receiving handmade gifts for Christmas and today I'm sharing the gifts I'm making for my bff's this year. My friends and I have little kiddos, but we still like to have a fun night out from time to time and this super simple, but totally cute Momma Clutch is something I know my girls will use! It's the perfect little clutch to throw in your purse or diaper bag to carry a diaper and wipes OR use on a night out to carry your phone, keys and a lipstick!
Here's the How To:
Grab yourself about a quarter of a yard of base fabric and an extra long strip (about 30") of an accent fabric and a about a quarter of a yard of stiff, but not super stiff interfacing.
Measure and cut
1. double over your fabric so you're cutting both pieces at the same time and use a diaper to get a good size
2. fold over the diaper once
3. fold over the diaper twice
4. cut excess away
5. measure and cut matching piece of interfacing
6. square up all sides with rotary cutter
Layer the two pieces of base fabric on top of the interfacing and pin all around.
Sew around all edges, leaving an opening to turn right sides out on one of the short ends.
Cut all corners to create square edges when turned right sides out.
Once turned, iron edges down flat.
Pin opening closed and top stitch along that short end closing the opening and finishing one end of the clutch.
Place diaper inside to determine how much of the bottom to pull up and pin.
Top stitch starting on the left side going up, rotate and stitch across the top flap edge and rotate and stitch down the right side.
The clutch is finished. Iron to press this shape into the interfacing.
Create a tube from the strip of accent fabric by sewing right sides together then turning right sides out.
Pin in a pleated / ruffle across the top flap and sew down the middle.
*Optional idea to add a velcro closure to the inside flap.
Perfect for diapers and wipes for the hard workin' Momma on a play date...
or for keys, phone and lipstick for Momma out for a date night!
Hope you'll give one a try for your bff's this holiday! Come see what other crafty business I've been up to over at It's Toile Good! Or catch me on Facebook or Twitter!

Very cute!!! I should make one for my (huge) bag so that I can grab and go for a quick change instead of digging around to find everything!
