Christmas Home Tour 2011

Welcome to my Christmas home tour 2011!  My goal this year was to add a touch of rustic to my home decor.  Enjoy!
This happens to be one of my favorite arrangements so I am going to put this picture up top.  It is just some cedar clippings in a glass pitcher with some of my paper feathers and a burlap mason jar ornament.
We will start the tour where you should start a tour -- the front door.  You can find all the details on my front door decor here

In my foyer, you will find a vintage sewing machine and a small coffee table all decked out with Christmas decor.  That is where my Christmas card ladder display is too.

The top of the vintage sewing machine got a runner out of vintage quilt squares....

Milk glass, silver, and another paper feather....

We always hang our stockings from the stair railing.  The railing itself is decked out in faux greenery and some burlap chair webbing...
The coffee table has a pair of my burlap covered poinsettias....

Vintage ornaments were added to a large mason jar.  The glass jug got a piece of sheet music with a Christmas song and some epsom salts in the bottom.  The birds that are scattered around all came from the dollar tree.  One of my milk glass trees ended up on this table....
More bottle brush trees added to my kid's toys!  More info on that can be found here.
I have been dreaming of vintage bulbs piled in a ball jar since last year at this time.  It took me an entire year of thrift store stalking but I did it!

Pine cones added to chippy terra cotta pots look perfect in a rustic setting.  Oh yes more paper feathers and vintage ornaments!

Every year I find a special place for "our first year" ornament....
My special vintage wood wagon got decked out in cedar and pine cones...

With just a few paper feathers...

It is tree time!  The tree is also in our foyer.  Hubby and little man went to the woods and brought us home a perfect little cedar tree.  It is all decked out in red and silver with a few other special ornaments.  And yep that is hubby's little red car from when he was a little boy.  You will have to imagine it stacked with presents because I have not wrapped a thing yet!  I neglected to take pics of the kid trees!  Whoops!  I might do that as a post for another day! :)  We have two other trees upstairs.
I used plain red burlap as a tree skirt.  We added little man's train too...
Lovely paper ornaments that a great friend made for me this year!  I think these are so unique and so me!  I just had to show them off....
Bowls filled with ornaments in the living room.  So simple yet so pretty...

The kitchen counter got a Christmas touch as well...

Plus a white vintage bowl filled with Christmas goodies...

More ornaments to spread cheer on the kitchen table....

I even added a few Christmas touches to the top of my barnwood hutch...

Just ribbon and a few scattered ornaments...
I will leave you with one picture of my mantle shelf in the living room.  I will give you all the details on it tomorrow night!  Y'all stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed a tour through our home for the holidays!

Home Tour 2011

Have y'all seen all the great home tours over at Poppies at Play?  It was a great week last week!  I decided to join in with my own home tour!
Let's start in the kitchen...
And yes supper is on the stove waiting for ya!  I looove my glass front cabinets.  They have a mixture of formal china, blue ball jars, and rustic treasures!
I play with the arrangement quite often.  When I see a blue ball jar, I often have to bring it home...so I often HAVE to rearrange.  :)
Next up we have the master bedroom...
This room has seen many changes in the past year of blogging.  One of my fave additions is that rustic stove used as a plant stand...
Another fave is the window used to display old pictures...
One of the big changes I made this year was my bathroom transformation....
This area has my framed burlap letter.  And then we have the inspiration piece for the entire bathroom..

And this is the sink area with even more hand painting on the wall...

The bathtub...and to answer your question...my bathroom is very large!

I also play with the arrangement on this shelf often...right now it is all starfish...
My latest big project was the big boy room transformation...
I took $60 and some hand me down furniture and made a room that he loves..
I went with a rustic feel but tried to keep it simple so that it would grow with him...
Even the toy storage has a rustic feel...
Some barnwood and vintage accessories finished it off...
It is one of my fave makeovers to date!

I have plenty of more ideas up my sleeve!  I hope to do this home tour every year so we can see what has changed through the years!

Keepin' It Real....Real Homes, Real Messes, Real Life

I found a great blog today....Decor Chick...how have I missed this up til now??  I was reading The Stories of A to Z and her real home tour.  Yep that GENIOUS Decor Chick is having a link up party...
It’s all about embracing normalcy and imperfections....I have plenty of those!!  I love the idea of showing my house as it is...today...a Thursday.  A Thursday of a week I have not felt good.  A Thursday of a week that has been wild.  Really a Thursday that is like any other one!  ;)  So here goes...real life....
This is the mud room.  Yes we live on a farm.  The mud room is literally a MUD room!! :)  And a peek through to the kitchen table full of drop offs after a long work day!
Into the kitchen with the chili still on the stove, the dishes still in the sink, and a vintage hard hat by the cook top....yes vintage hard hat...that might be a blog post for another day.  It will not reside there forever! :)
This is the living room behind the couch...or the "office".  Yes toys, etsy stuff, a camera shy teen working on a scrapbook...no spoilers but there is a future blog reveal hiding in there....in it's "before" state.
The living room...ugh that lamp needs a makeover but we need to talk about that another day.  Right now...those TOYS are TAKING OVER MY LIFE!!  I think they multiply while I sleep...
Our bedroom...yes I make my bed every day...most days anyway.  :)   I didn't even realize you could see that box til I took this picture...  See the exercise bike to the left...I dust that every week...dust it...
And the downstairs bath...this is what it looks like everyday...at least the towels are hanging! :)
I will leave the upstairs with the kid's rooms for another time.  Too much real life in one post could make y'all change your mind about coming back here everyday! :)
Y'all head on over to Decor Chick and link up your own real home!
