Repurpose Your Food Containers

Let's get organized today!  What is better than getting organized?  Getting organized for FREE.  Today I am going to show you how to repurpose your food containers into organizing bins like these...

What do you need?
  • Empty Food Containers -- mine were from corn meal and oats.
  • Spray paint or craft paint
  • Stamps
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Tape
  • Labels
  • Chalkboard Paint
  • Chalk

The bottom of your food container will show in the finished project.  So, let's paint that first.  I used spray paint on mine.  Anything to make it look pretty will work just fine.

Cut your scrapbook paper to the height of your container.  Wouldn't you know that the scrapbook paper was not long enough to make it all the way around the container?  So I added another piece to lengthen it just a smidge....just tape it on...

I used my stamps from PSA Essentials to make a pattern on my paper.  I took one circle stamp plus two different colors of ink...

The paper itself has a shiny appearance.  The stamping is super subtle.  That is what really made me fall in love with these containers.  They are pretty but subdued all at the same time.

Once you are done stamping and your ink has dried, wrap your paper around your container and tape on the back.  Here you can see the back and the front.  From here you can tell just how short my scrapbook paper was...

For the chalkboard labels, my pal Gina posted a tutorial on her blog a while back.  You just need to spray your chalkboard paint right on a sheet of labels.  It works wonders!

The containers themselves are slightly different.  Different stamps and ink colors were used.  So they match...but not perfectly.

Grab your chalk and write whatever your contents are.  That is after you have sorted and organized everything!

Who will be saving their food containers now?  Or at least looking at them a bit differently!

For a look at where I used my containers, head on over to this post.
PSA Essentials supplied me with the stamps but the project and opinions expressed are all mine.

Handmade Gift Wrap

This one was originally posted over at Positively Splendid but I thought ya might have missed it.  My handmade gift wrap is super easy and will look great under your tree...
Those look fab right??  A few dollar store supplies and some paint chips and you can make those too!
The Bags
First let's make the bags.  I get the bags and doilies from the dollar tree.  Those bags are 50 cents each and the paper doilies are $1 for a large pack...
I made one with doily placemats and the other with round doilies.  Use whatever your dollar tree has.  Cut the placemat doilies in half...
Lay it out on your bag and mod podge it on...yes leave it completely untrimmed.  Once your mod podge dries you can take a pair of scissors and trim away all the excess.  If you want your bag to be pretty from the front and back, be sure to repeat on the back when the front is dry.
Repeat with the round doily.  Place it how you like it and mod podge it on...
The Tags
While your bags are drying, let's make amazing gift tags!  What do you need??  Free paint chips, a hole punch, and ribbon...
Cut out tree shapes from the green ones and candy cane shapes from the red ones.  Each tag is half of the paint strips I picked up.
Punch a hole and thread in some ribbon...you are done!!  Super simple, cute, and inexpensive...my kinda project!
The Tissue Paper
That was so quick that the bags are not dry.  :)  So let's customize our tissue paper.  Do you have any Christmas stamps??  I have these fab stamps from PSA Essentials.
The fabulousness is that the outer and inner is a different color all in one hit!!  Yep super simple.  Use the PSA if you can find em or use a Christmas stamp you have.  But stamp that tissue paper to make it extra special!  It turns that simple white tissue into something meaningful for your recipient.
The best part....the ink bleeds through just enough to show the stamp through both sides...amazing!!
Let's put it together....the bags are dry!  I trimmed em and added my tags...
I used the candy cane on the red and the tree on the brown...
Can you guess??  I made candy cane tissue paper for the red bag....cause I am matchy matchy like that!
And the Christmas tree paper got added to the brown bag...
Wrap your gifts with these super simple secrets and your friends will feel extra special....
We can keep it just between the two of us how super simple this is....I won't tell your friends and family! :)

Quick and Easy Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Eeek!  This one is on PSA Stamp Camp today!!  Head on over and check it out there too!!
Need a super quick and easy way to decorate your thanksgiving table on Thursday?  Add a paper bunting banner in a bowl of pumpkins and gourds...

I used my PSA Essentials stamps, some recycled paper from my stash, some twine and some skewers from the kitchen drawer.
I cut my paper into rectangles first, then made them triangles.  I loved the rustic nature of this recycled scrapbook paper.

I then stamped my letters on in orange...

For the skewers, on one end I hot glued then together in an "X"....

On the other end, I tied on two pieces of twine.  I hot glued the knots to the skewers after I tied them to prevent them from slipping down.

Then just hot glue your little triangles onto the twine.  Oh so easy.

I love how the second row of letters is wavy!

Now just stick the entire thing down in a bowl of pumpkins and gourds and you have a festive table centerpiece.

Quick, easy, cheap, and cute....my kinda craft!

So do you have your centerpiece done?  Any stamping involved?  Bunting banners?  I would love to see them so drop me a link in a comment!

I don't know about y'all but I am ready to eat some turkey!

Updating a picture mat with stamps

Originally seen on PSA Stamp Camp but just in case ya missed it...
I wanted to frame up a few leaves to display for fall.  But the plain white mat in my frame was not doing it for me.  So I updated it using a few stamps....
I used orange and brown with my PSA Essentials stamps.  I used just the outer ring of the stamp.
I began with the orange and randomly stamp all over the mat...
I then started with the brown and randomly stamped it also...
Working my way all the way around with both the orange and brown...
It is a super quick and easy way to get rid of that plain white mat...
The leaves??  Just some I picked up around our yard.  Love those fall colors...nature makes the best art...
Next time you are framing up a piece of art or a piece of nature, take a look at your mat and consider giving it a facelift.
A pretty addition to my fall decor....so sad it is almost time to pack this one away til next year.  But I am soooo close to being able to break out the Christmas decorations!  What about y'all?  Are you holding out til after Thanksgiving?
I am on the PSA Essentials design team.  I received product compensation for my work on the team.  The projects and opinions are all my own.
