A home budget in just 10 minutes? Yes you can do this! We talk a lot around here about home organization and getting your finances in order is a big part of that. Get organized with your home budget in just 10 minutes with our handy list below. Plus I will let you in on how you can get access to free budget software that will help you stay on target! This post is done in partnership with Ramsey Solutions however all projects and opinions are my own.
1. Start by writing down your income and typical monthly expenses. How much do you make each month? How much do you spend? Make categories and give yourself a budget in each of those categories.
2. Allocate every dollar you make each month into a category. There should be nothing left at the end of the month. To help you with this, may I recommend the Dave Ramsey Baby Steps. You can follow along with those in the graphic below on your way to financial freedom. Allocate anything that is left in your income to the next baby step to get your finances and home in order.
3. Congratulations! You have a budget! Now it is time to follow through with the budget. You need to track all of your expenses to make sure they are falling within the budget you just set. This is where the FREE budgeting software that I mentioned comes into play. EveryDollar is Dave Ramsey’s new online budgeting tool. It’s the easiest and most efficient way to give every dollar in your budget a name! This free budget software is accessible from your computer and iPhone so you can keep up with your budget from anywhere. I personally love being able to log transactions and double check my spending on the go. I think you will really love it as well and it should help you stay on track for those financial goals. Start by inputting your budget from above, then log your expenses from anywhere. Come back and report once you have financial freedom!
Just so you know, EveryDollar also includes the baby steps so you can have the satisfaction of checking those off as you head on your path. Giving a portion of your income to charity is also highly encouraged. This journey should not be difficult! It is just about knowing where you money goes and doing the right things with it.
