Clean your glass well with rubbing alcohol before beginning. Make sure it is completely dry before continuing. Use a star template as a guide and draw a star onto the front of your jar with the 3D writer. Can't find a paint writer? Just draw this on with hot glue instead. I used this one from my craft stash but you could easily print and cut out a star from the internet. Allow this to dry completely.
Apply one coat of color to each jar. I used blue and red chalk finish paint on each jar. The chalky finish adds to the farmhouse look but is definitely not required. You can use any paint that you have on hand. Allow this first coat to dry before adding additional coats.
Continue adding additional coats until the glass is completely covered in red and blue. Then add on a coat or two of white. NOTE: Be sure to allow each coat of paint to dry for 2 hours before adding another coat.
After that last coat has completely cured, we can grab the sandpaper and have some fun. Use a fine grit sandpaper and go lightly. You can always sand more but it is hard to add paint back to the jars. Continue to sand in a vertical direction all the way around both jars. Including that lovely little three dimensional star that you added to the front. Don’t forget to also touch the rim of the jar with the sandpaper as well.
After your sanding is complete, wipe away any sanding dust and your project is complete.
