Melt the chocolate in the microwave according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the chocolate. If the chocolate is overheated, it will be too thick. You can add 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to help thin the chocolate but do not add any other type of liquid as the chocolate will seize and harden. I have also used flavored almond bark in place of chocolate as it is really forgiving when it comes to melting. It also comes in a wide variety of colors so you can make colors out of your chocolate dipped marshmallow pops.
Press marshmallows onto straws with a twisting motion. Choose straws that match the decor for your party. You can find a ton of different designs for paper straws online. Then dip the marshmallow into chocolate and immediately into sprinkles.
Here I am using white and milk chocolate but you can change up both the colors and flavors. Look for a variety of colors of candy coating to sub for the chocolate or use things like dark chocolate to make more sophisticated flavors.
You can also find a wide variety of sprinkles that will work with this marshmallow pops recipe. Match them to your theme or occasion.
Place marshmallows on waxed paper once dipped. Then let marshmallows dry completely before packaging or serving.
