Equipment

What You Will Need

  • 1 green sweater with plain front
  • 1 strand green tinsel garland
  • 1 string artificial Christmas light garland
  • 1/2 yard green tulle
  • 1 headband
  • 1 styrofoam cone
  • 1 string battery-operated moon lights optional

Instructions

  • Add the styrofoam cone to the headband and attach it with hot glue. Make sure it is at a slight angle and not directly in the center of the headband.
  • Wrap the cone with green tinsel garland and secure the ends with hot glue. Set this aside.
  • Insert a piece of cardboard inside the sweater before beginning. If any glue goes through the fabric, you don’t want it sticking to the backside. Then gather your tulle and secure it in rows with hot glue. Each row should be slightly shorter than the last one. Then just continue all the way up the front of your sweater until you reach the neck. This should be a tree-like shape.
  • Add the green tinsel garland also with hot glue over the top of each tulle piece.
  • Secure some of the garland of lights to the cone with hot glue.
  • Add the lights to the sweater itself. Secure into place with the hot glue. You can then add real lights if desired. We added some moon lights later by tying them onto the artificial lights and adding the battery pack to a pocket in the jeans.
  • After the hot glue dries, wear your sweater with pride!
