How to Make Leather Earrings Using Your Cricut Machine
You can make your own leather earrings using your Cricut! Here's the step-by-step process to create a pattern and assemble your own DIY leather earrings!

- Faux leather or other thick sturdy fabric (you can use real leather as well)
- Cricut mat
- French hook earring hardware
- Needle nose pliers

How to Make Leather Earrings Patterns in Cricut Design Space
- Place your leather or other fabric on the mat in the upper left corner, smooth it down and press it well into the mat. This material I chose I found near the felt at the craft store, it has a thick fiber on back and a sequin effect on the front. If you are cutting real leather, see our trials and recommendations for cutting it here.
- Open up Cricut Design Space and start a new project. Click on image and then search “leaf”. Choose a design you love but try to stick with a simple one for your first try. Resize your earring. I made mine just under 2” long.
- Create a circle by clicking on shapes and choosing circle. Resize it to .18 then place your circle near the top of the leaf where you would like the hole.
- Drag a box to choose both the leaf and the circle. Choose slice from the layers menu. You can see more about the slice option here. Drag the circles off the earring, you should have holes in your image now.
- Delete the circles. Make a box over your leaf with your mouse to select it. Duplicate it to make your other earring. This will give you an exact match rather than making one at a time.
- Select MAKE IT in Design Space. Pick faux leather from the material options in this case. If you are using real leather, be sure to see our trials here for cutting that material. Then just watch your design cut out! Peel your earrings off the mat once complete. Then use your hook tool to press the cut centers out of the earring.
How to Assemble Your Leather Earrings
- Gently open the round jump ring on your earring hardware, using needle nose pliers if needed.
- Slip it through the hole in your earring and clamp closed.
