My Halloween Mantle -- and a blog hop!

Hi y'all!!  Today I am participating in the Tennessee Mantle Hop -- Fall Edition!  The Tennessee bloggers are getting together for a little blog hop fun!!
Y'all be sure to check out all the mantles!  If you are starting here, I will have the next link at the bottom of this post.  Otherwise, you came over from Deneen's blog after checking out her mantle!  Continue on with the hop after reading this post!
Okay if you have not been here before....I don't officially have a "mantle".  But I dress up a shelf in my living room and pretend...a blogger has to do what a blogger has to do...  Here is my completed Halloween "mantle"....
The big piece that is the star of the show...that is my DIY tobacco basket!  It was the perfect large piece to start the mantle off with...
If you hang out here alot you will recognize many items on the mantle from the past few weeks posts.  My lantern got a spooky hand in it.  The barnwood sign I made last year.  The black birds are from the Dollar Tree (I heart the Dollar Tree!!).
For this candle, I used a dictionary page with a spooky knife on it.  Just cut the page to size, wrap around, and use tape to secure.  All of the spooky looking webs you see are actually cheese cloth.  The perfect Halloween decoration that you might just have in your kitchen cabinet.
The black pedestal bowl I made myself and you can find the instructions here.  I have used various spiders and creepy crawlies around my mantle.  Those are toys borrowed from the kids!  So nice to have a boy that is into creepy crawly things!!  That "BOO" candle wrap will be coming to a blog near you...stay tuned for a tutorial!!
More of the creepy toys got put on the tobacco basket along with some more cheese cloth.  The bat and spiders are just stuck into the basket.  No glue needed...
My SUPER easy book of spells also ended up on the mantle.  Under the bird is a trio of books I found at a yard sale a few weeks back.  They are old and worn and wellll...slightly creepy looking!  I also gave you super easy instructions for that trick or treat candle wrap.
What mantle would be complete without a banner??  I used canvas drop cloth and fabric spray paint.  Just slightly color your pieces orange then use a fabric marker to write your letters.  It is strung up with twine then I used even more cheese cloth to cover up the twine.  Told ya I loved the cheese cloth...
See that framed picture peeking out...I looove that!!  It is simply an old picture from a book framed up really quick.  Reminds me of those spooky pictures in haunted houses where the eyes follow you!!
So there you have it...a mantle (shelf) that screams Halloween!  I absolutely adore how it turned out!
A perfectly spooky mantle to enjoy this fall...
Next stop on the mantle hop is Jessica at Sunny Tuesday.  Head on over there and see what she has in store for you!  Hope you enjoyed!

So, so cute! I love all the ideas I'm seeing using the ravens. I HEART the Dollar Tree too, and have been trying to think of a way to use the raven somewhere so thanks for your ideas. Love the BOO banner as well. Great job decorating your "mantel"!

Super spooky, Angie! I love the cheesecloth draped over everything. And I can't wait for the BOO candle tute!!! Looks like fun!

I really love the tobacco basket - it's absolutely perfect in your mantle! The books, birds, candles are great! Very Edgar Allan Poe. :)

Very nice job! Love the ravens and the candles. And now I have to go find some spooky portraits of strangers to put up...adore that idea!

great ideas! I love all your photos, I do wish they were bigger so I would see all the details better.
