Do you get tired of all the glitter and sparkles that are on most teen clothing? Yep me too. When Elmer’s offered me the opportunity to design some shirts using their Painters Paint Markers, I knew exactly what I would do. Some cute tween or teen shirts with no glittery sparkles! Perfect for any growing girl. Here are the two designs I ended up with…
Next I needed some inspiration. We went to Rue 21 and found this shirt that was cute enough. The girls wanted it to be more colorful so we got to work. The Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers are perfect for painting on fabric. It is so easy to control and get your lines just right. The only difficult part of my project was that I choose ribbed tank tops. The smoother ones probably would have been easier.
I went over each letter multiple times to get them this dark. I free handed the entire shirt. I went roughly by my inspiration shirt and made up the rest.
Be sure to heat set your design and wash on gentle with cold water to keep your design perfect! This one will make a perfect addition to the summer wardrobe. Plus making your own DIY shirts is super inexpensive.
My confidence was boosted with my success (yes there were failures). So I moved to my OWN design on a tank top. I did a faux bois print on a tank top! It creates almost a watermark effect that I love! I am dying to put this on even more shirts!
The ever popular faux bois print is super easy to free hand. Plus in pink it makes an extra girly statement…all without glitter and rhinestones.
Just draw on your lines, let them dry, heat set, and you are ready to wear!
I went back and bought even more shirts after I finished these. I can’t wait to experiment some more. With the Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers, even your kids can create some tshirts for themselves. Super easy and perfect for little hands these paint pens are the perfect painting equipment for the kiddos.
For now, my model is getting tired so I will end this post. I will probably be back with even more shirts. Y’all can handle that right?
