How To Make Pancake Mix Gift
I love giving homemade gifts. They're just more special! And as a bonus, they're also cheaper. That's especially true when it comes to gifts in a jar!
You can make a huge variety of different gift ideas, but food is always a top choice.

Step 1: Paint Mason Jar
I wanted my gift to also be useful long after the pancake mix was gone. So I decided to decorate the jar! That way, it would look nice when given and could be used as a vase or a special jar after using the pancake mix.
I did a little paint-dipped technique on my jar before filling it with the mix. Just grab some DecoArt Gloss Enamels in true red and desert turquoise to match the printable labels.
Then, paint a few coats on the outside of the jar as shown below, allowing it to dry between coats. The final touch is to bake the jar to cure the paint before adding your pancake mix.

Step 2: Add Pancake Mix To The Mason Jar
Mix all of the recipe ingredients together, then add them to a wide-mouth quart-sized mason jar. This recipe creates the perfect amount of mix to fill the jar to the top.
Step 3: Attach Printable Tags To Mason Jar
Once your jar is filled, attach the printable labels to your jar. The first label is the name of the mix. The second label (that I put on the back) has the instructions for using the mix to make pancakes. You can pull up the printables for the rest of the recipe if you just want to make some pancakes!
TIP: I used glue dots to attach my labels so they would not be permanent and could be removed from the jar once the mix was finished.

Step 4: Decorate Mason Jar Lid Band
I used washi tape around the lid band as a quick and easy way to give it another pop of red and a finished look.

In case you were wondering how this mix tastes, I did make some pancakes! And, they turned out delicious. The instructions serve 5 and use about 1/2 of the mix at a time. I prefer mine with a drizzle of syrup. YUM!

This handmade gift is super simple to make and will put a smile on your recipient's face. How many people will you treat to an apple cinnamon pancake mix gift in a jar?
