This fingerprint Christmas ornament is perfect to make with those little ones. Use two thumbprints to make a reindeer that you will be able to remember fondly year after year. I love filling my tree with special ornaments that bring a smile to my face when I pull them out during the holidays. I decided to do a few with my grandson this year and this one was on the top of my list. This post is sponsored by Elmer’s however all projects and opinions are my own.
Supplies needed to make your own fingerprint Christmas ornament:
- White ornament
- Brown craft paint
- Elmer’s Paint Pens (in black and red)
- Elmer’s Craft Glue
- Red Pom Pom
Start by dipping their little thumbs into brown craft paint and adding thumbprints to the ornament as shown below. Smaller children will definitely need help with this portion. You might even want to do with during a baby’s nap! Allow this to dry completely before continuing.
Use the Elmer’s black paint pen with a fine tip to draw on antlers, legs, a tail and eyes. Just free hand it yourself or let older kids draw it on themselves. One of the benefits of the Elmer’s paint pens it is paint but it is just like using a marker. I love them for kid’s crafts!
Use Elmer’s craft glue to add on the pom pom. Allow to dry completely.
Turn your ornament and use the Elmer’s red paint pen with a fine tip to add the name and year. Allow to dry completely.
Hang your new ornament on your tree! I love how this fingerprint Christmas ornament turned out! It is the perfect addition to any tree.
You can make these with kids that are big or small. Get them into the Christmas spirit by adding these fun ornaments to your tree this holiday season. They will love making a fingerprint Christmas ornament of their very own!
These ornaments are so adorable. What a great memory item for them to keep.

This is a great idea and I love how easy it is to make. I am going to make these with my girl for sure. Thank you for sharing at Dishing it and Digging it link party. I love stopping by and seeing what you have been up too.
Oh I love this super simple but adorable ornament idea, Angie! I picked this for the Friday Favorites linky party: http://be-alice.blogspot.com/2016/11/friday-favorites-week-347.html
Hope to see you at the party this week as well! 🙂

An especially cute idea that would be a keepsake! I have boxes full of my two kids and started one now for my grandson. What a great add! thanks.
What a sweet keepsake. Like you, I treasure hanging special, keepsake ornaments on our tree each year. Congrats, you’re featured this week at the @ThisIsHowWeRoll Link Party.
These are so cute! I love handmade ornaments 🙂 Thanks for linking up with our Merry Monday party last week!
So cool! Thanks for posting it.
I would love to have my son’s class make this at their school holiday party. The only thing I’m worried about is the paint not being dry as they leave school right after the party. How long does the paint usually take to dry?
It takes a while as it turns out fairly thick. Experiment with ink on a wood surface. That would dry faster! The paint pens dry really fast so you can still use those!
Hi there! I LOVE your blog and everything you share! I hope you don’t mind but I shared your fngerprint reindeer ornament on a post I did of a little collection of Reindeer ornaments kids can make ( http://www.easyfreesantaletter.com/blog/reindeer-ornaments-kids-can-make/ ). I hope you like it!
If you are ever interested in doing a guest post please let me know…I would love that!
Warmly,
Cheryl
So adorable! I’m wanting to do something like this but I have having a hard time finding plain white ceramic ornaments. Where did you get yours?
Nevermind! Saw your response on your other post 🙂
Just wondering if I could use a clear sealant on the painted ornaments? I worry that the paint might scratch off over time. Also, do you think this would work with clear glass ornaments?
Yes you can definitely use a clear sealer. Although this one is still going strong and on my tree this year! Clear glass would definitely work.
