Barnwood Shelf

I decided the big boy room needs a barnwood shelf.  So after enlisting some hubby help….
I staged it with some blue mason jars for y’all.  No sneak peeks of it in the big boy room yet!  So what do you need??  Some barnwood and a dowel rod.
Don’t forget your Gorilla wood glue…
Pick your barnwood carefully…these worn edges make your shelf extra special….
We are extremely blessed with a great supply!  Cut your bottom and back the same length….
We drilled three holes in the bottom 1/2 inch deep…
DH put tape on the drill bit so he knew where 1/2 inch was…isn’t he a genius??  And three holes in the side of the back….
K…I say “we” but I mean I watched…grins….  Then cut little dowel pieces for the holes…
Did a dry fit of the two together then put the glue to each hole….
We used a few finishing nails to hold the two pieces together while they dried.  Now the ends….dh is a genius once again…as he made ‘em where the gorgeous barnwood edge is out…
A little Gorilla glue and finishing nails finished off the ends…
Gorgeous barnwood details…
And make sure all those natural edges stay out and the sawn edges are hidden….
It makes all the difference…gorgeous country goodness…
I can’t wait to accessorize it in the big boy room…
And ain’t I lucky to have such a great hubby??
So what did you make this weekend?
