I have been on a huge pumpkin kick lately. Every idea I have lately seems to center around a pumpkin. By the end of the season, I might be drowning in paper mache pumpkins. But I do love them and this one is no exception. My scary silhouette pumpkin is sure to put some fright in your Halloween decor.
I printed my image on regular paper not card stock. That way it will be a little easier to work on the bumps of the pumpkin. So I started with a coat of Mod Podge on the back of my paper. Since the paper is so thin it will probably have a tendency to wrinkle up.
After that coat of Mod Podge dries, you can then carefully cut out your silhouette. I just used scissors and I left the internal details like the eyes in place. You can use a craft knife for more detailed images.
I then applied a layer of Mod Podge to the back of my silhouette.
Then just stuck it right on my pumpkin and smoothed it out. I did get a few wrinkles due to the fact that the surface itself is bumpy but overall it turned out great. I did not put any Mod Podge over the top of the image. I was afraid of the ink running once the paper got wet with the Mod Podge.
I did a few pictures in this fall display but I am planning on this one going on my Halloween mantle.
In case you need them, here are the tutorials for those baker's twine pumpkins, sweater pumpkins, and fall sign. Hope you enjoyed and will make your own scary silhouette pumpkins!
