How To Make A Beach In A Bottle Keepsake
Hi, I’m Emily from Homemade Lovely. I have temporarily retired from teaching to stay at home with my 1-year-old daughter. She is an amazing little girl and always keeps me laughing. I blog about all things homemade, with a little of our lives thrown in the mix. Come by and say hi sometime.
I was thrilled when Angie invited me to write a blog post for The Country Chic Cottage. I absolutely love summer and spending time at the beach. Everything about the beach is enjoyable—the sand, the water, and even people-watching. However, the worst part is packing up and heading home afterward. To capture a piece of the beach and take it with you, I suggest creating a Beach In A Bottle keepsake.
This project really couldn’t be any easier. All you need to do is collect a little sand, some seashells or rocks, or anything that reminds you of the beach on your next trip. I also added a picture from the trip.
Supplies Needed For Beach In A Bottle
- Sand from the beach
- Seashells or rocks
- Other beach mementos
- Mason jar
- Label – This could be a label you make with a label maker or a handmade one from paper.
Step 1: Fill Jar With Sand
First, fill the bottom of your jar with sand and add a label if you’d like.
NOTE: You can add as much or as little sand as you would like to your jar.
Step 2: Add Beach Mementos
The last step is to add your beach mementos. Now you have a fun way to remember your trip!

This is so sweet!! I have a post scheduled with many more examples of memory keeping in jars that include photos, just added yours. I think a whole collection of memory jars could look pretty awesome lined up on a shelf.
Hi, saw this while adding craft pins & looking thru old saved ones, lol. Going to AZ soon; might be fun memento for granddaughter/daughter afterward starting with desert sand and/or red rock sand. My question is: do u know of any way to keep the sand, once in the jar, stable? So it won’t shift when moved/tilted?
