I thought I would add a chevron stripe pillow cover to my craft room. Yes a chevron stripe pillow. Just a few stripes not the entire pillow. How do you get just a few chevron stripes on fabric? FrogTape® Shape Tape™ of course! Now let’s make one great chevron stripe pillow cover.
- Pillow to cover
- Fabric (enough to cover the pillow)
- Fabric lining (optional but some fabric is too thin and your pillow will show through)
- DecoArt Americana Multi-Surface Paint (in the color of your choice)
- FrogTape® Shape Tape™
- Sewing machine
Step 1: Measure your pillow from seam to seam. Cut the fabric to the size of your pillow plus half an inch on each side. If your fabric is thin, you may need a liner as well (I did in this case).
Step 2: Iron all fabric pieces. Paint the chevron stripes with your FrogTape® Shape Tape™ as shown in the video below.
Step 4: Sew around three of the four sides plus about 2 inches on either end of the fourth side. Sew about half an inch from the edge. You will now have an opening on one side.
Step 5: Turn the pillow cover right side out through the opening and push out all corners. Insert your pillow into the cover.
Step 6: Sew opening closed along edge making sure your seam allowance is turned in. Use a coordinating thread if available for this step.
Your pillow is done and ready to be displayed proudly in your home.
I really like the touch of chevron running down one side of this pillow cover. Add a touch of fun to any room with this technique and FrogTape® Shape Tape™. Which shape tape would you like to try? Will you use it on fabric? Walls? Maybe furniture? Put your trust in FrogTape® for all of your painter’s tape needs. Trust me. The paint block technology won’t let you or your project down!
