My first ornament of 2010! Dictionary flowers! Gorgeous vintage dictionary pages turn into paper flowers in this easy to make ornament!
You will need a styrofoam ball, ribbon, dictionary pages, and circular objects to trace around. I used 4 layers to my flowers so I had to find 4 objects in varying sizes.
Trace around the circles and cut them out of the vintage dictionary pages.
Now you need a way to hold all of these circles together. I have a little tool that inserts gromments so that is what I used. I think you could just staple through the center. Or if you have some brads that would work. Anything to get them together.
Start crumpling each layer. Yes crumple them all up...trust me...
After you crumple all 4 layers. Lay them back out sort of flat...like this....
Yep a dictionary page flower!! That easy!! Start hot glueing onto your styrofoam ball....
Before I forget...hot glue on a ribbon for hanging....
Keep making flowers and using your trusty hot glue gun to secure to the styrofoam ball.....
I also used a little hot glue where the flowers come together. Helps to make sure the gaps stay closed.
I really love the way this one turned out!
This would also make a great little gift for the book lover in your family! Customize with sheet music, maps, any paper ephemera!!
So have y'all made any Christmas ornaments yet?? I would love to see em...leave me a comment with a link!
