You can make mason jar lid ornaments in just minutes. Mason jar lids actually make the perfect Christmas ornaments. I grabbed a few packages of lids from Dollar General and got to work turning them into some amazing ornaments for my tree. I am showing you how to make all five ornaments below, then you can add them to your farmhouse Christmas tree.

5 Mason Jar Lid Ornaments
Start with a shopping trip to pick up supplies. Some mason jar lids and a few accessories are all you need to make these cute ornaments. I actually picked up all of my supplies at the Dollar Store, so making these crafts on a budget is definitely possible!

Ornament 1: Snowflake Christmas Ornaments
We will start with these snowflake lid ornaments. Those foam snowflakes come in a package at Dollar General and are in the Christmas section. They fit perfectly inside a mason jar lid.

Supplies Needed To Make Snowflake Christmas Ornaments
- Mason jar lids (I am using polka dot ones)
- Scrapbook paper (if you can't find the polka dot lids)
- Ribbon
- Foam snowflakes
- Hot glue and a glue gun
Step 1: Glue Lid Upside Down Inside The Band
Just use hot glue to secure the lid upside down inside the band. If you can't find the polka dot mason jar lids, add a piece of scrapbook paper inside as well.

Step 2: Glue Snowflake & Ribbon Hanger To Mason Jar Lid
Add the snowflake to the center of the lid with some additional hot glue. Then, hot glue a piece of ribbon to the back of the ornament to create the hanger.
Ornament 2: Christmas Character Ornaments
Next up are these fun Christmas character mason jar lid ornaments. These are so much fun and easy to make.

Supplies Needed To Make Christmas Character Ornaments
- Mason jar lids
- Glitter foam sheets
- Christmas character pins
- Hot glue and a glue gun
- Ribbon
Step 1: Trace Mason Jar Lid Onto Glitter Sheet
Start by tracing your mason jar lid on the back of the glitter sheet.

Step 2: Cut Out Glitter Sheet & Glue To Mason Jar Lid
Cut out your circles. The glitter sheets are self-adhesive, so you can just stick those right to the bottom of the mason jar lid.

Step 3: Glue Pin & Ribbon To Mason Jar Lid
Use hot glue to add the lid to the band and then secure the character pin to the center with additional hot glue. In this version, I wrapped the ribbon all the way around and made a loop at the top. This is the second way to add a hanger to your mason jar lid ornaments.
Ornament 3: Funny Saying Ornaments
How about a version that is a bit funny? Dollar General has some great stick-on clings for mugs with funny sayings. Most of the ones in the package will actually fit inside a mason jar lid. I thought they were just adorable!

Supplies Needed To Make Funny Saying Ornaments
- Mason jar lids
- White foam sheet
- Funny window clings (you could also make something similar with vinyl and your Cricut machine)
- Hot glue and glue gun
- Ribbon
Step 1: Glue Lid Inside The Band, Add Foam Sheet, Add Cling, And Attach Hanger
Just use hot glue to secure the band and lid together. Then add a white foam sheet to the inside, similar to the ornament above this one. Secure the cling with hot glue in each of the four corners (just a small amount will work). I wrapped the band with ribbon on this one as well.

Ornament 4: Ornaments From A Mason Jar Lid
Adding a smaller ornament inside the mason jar lid is a great way to add some sparkle to your tree.

Supplies Needed To Make Ornaments From A Mason Jar Lid
- Mason jar lids
- Glitter foam sheets
- Small miniature Christmas ornaments
- Baker's twine
- Hot glue and glue gun
Step 1: Grab Ornaments & Foam Glitter Sheet
Find some ornaments that are small enough to fit inside the lid that you love, and also grab some of those foam glitter sheets.
Step 2: Cut Foam Sheet, Attach To Lid, & Glue Lid To Band
Cut the foam sheet to fit inside the lid. Use the adhesive on the sheet to attach. Secure the lid together with hot glue. I used a piece of twine to tie a small bow and loop on each ornament.

Step 3: Glue Mini Ornaments To The Inside Of The Mason Jar Lid
Add those mini ornaments to the inside of your mason jar ornaments with hot glue. Then add the ribbon to hang by either method mentioned above.

Ornament 5: Scandinavian-Themed Christmas Ornaments
The last version of the mason jar lid ornament uses Christmas-themed tea towels from Dollar General.

Supplies Needed To Make Scandinavian-Themed Christmas Ornaments
- Mason jar lids
- Glitter foam sheets
- Christmas dish towel (you can also try screen printing a design)
- Ribbon
- Hot glue and glue gun
Step 1: Cut Out Kitchen Towel & Foam Sheets
Trace the lid onto your towel with a pencil, then cut it out slightly larger. Also, cut two pieces of white foam to the size of the mason jar lid.

Step 2: Smooth Towel Over Foam Circle
Smooth out the fabric over the adhesive side of your foam circle.

Step 3: Glue The Towel To The Foam Circle
Clip the fabric every inch or two. Start folding over and securing with hot glue on the back. Once completed, use hot glue to add this to your mason jar lid. Secure the lid to the band and add a ribbon for hanging.

Now you too can make five different mason jar lid ornaments. These adorable ornaments can adorn your tree this holiday season. You can change them up to match any theme or color you would like for your tree. Which one is your favorite?

Tips and Tricks for Mason Jar Lid Ornaments
Now that you’ve seen these mason jar lid ornaments, are you ready to make your own? Here are a few tips and tricks to ensure your project goes as smoothly as possible!
- Shop The Dollar Store – As I mentioned before, I picked up all my supplies from the Dollar Store. I highly recommend that you do the same because you can find some amazing items for a reasonable price in their Christmas and craft sections.
- Buy Mason Jar Lids By Themselves – If you don't have mason jar lids on hand, you can buy them in a set by themselves! To purchase a set of mason jar lids, click here.
- Customize These Ornaments To Fit Your Style – For my ornaments, I chose to go with traditional Christmas colors. However, depending on your Christmas decor style (peppermint, woodland, bright, pastel, etc.), you can change up the color to match your theme!
- Use Mod Podge To Glue Down The Window Cling – I chose to use hot glue so I wouldn't have to wait for it to dry, but if you want more of a ”flatter look”, then you can use Matte Mod Podge instead.
