I have a fun project to share with you today to make DIY Christmas napkin rings with your Cricut machine. Any Cricut machine can make paper napkin rings in minutes, and I am giving these a holiday theme. I am actually making these two ways. One for the kids' table and one that is a bit more elegant. Choose the one that works with your theme and start cutting! I added one of these versions to my plaid Christmas table here.

How To Make DIY Christmas Napkin Rings
Choose which of these napkin rings will work for your holiday table, then break out your Cricut machine. They are so easy to make; you can even let the kids help!
Supplies Needed To Make DIY Christmas Napkin Rings
- Cricut Explore Air 2 or any other Cricut machine
- Cutting mat
- Deer ring cut file
- Thin chipboard or Kraftboard
- Decoupage and glitter OR googly eyes and red pom-pom (depending on what version you are making)
How To Design In Cricut Design Space
This blog post was originally posted on October 31, 2016; however, I am republishing with more information. Because of that, the Cricut Design Space screenshots below may look outdated, but the information and process in Design Space are still the same.
Step 1: Open Files In Cricut Design Space
Open the file in Cricut Design Space (you'll need to be logged in). You will see the flat napkin ring ready to cut. It should be about 7 3/4″.

Step 2: Click Make It
Click make it to start cutting your project and choose how many of the napkin rings that you want to cut. The software will do all of the work for you and determine the proper location for all of the images that you are going to cut.

Set your dial to custom. Chipboard is not available on the standard settings. Choose chipboard in Design Space from the pull-down menu. There are TONS of custom materials in that menu, or you can even customize your own material if you find something that they don't have listed.

Cutting Paper Napkin Rings
After you have uploaded the files to Cricut Design Space, it's time to load your mat and cut out your napkin rings!
Step 1: Load Mat Into Cricut Machine
Load your mat and cut your napkin rings. I like putting this material on a standard grip mat.

Step 2: Remove Pieces From Mat
Remove the cut pieces from the mat, and you will have something that looks like the image below. You can make the napkin ring by forming the piece into a circle and putting the slits in the paper together.

How To Decorate DIY Christmas Napkin Rings
Now you can decorate these deer napkin rings two ways. The first is for the kids' table, and the second is for the adults' table.
Napkin Rings For Kids' Table
First, let's start with the napkin rings for the kids' table! Grab 2 googly eyes and a pom-pom.

Step 1: Hot Glue Googly Eyes & Pom-Pom To Napkin Ring
Use hot glue to secure googly eyes and pom-pom into place. Then just slip the napkin ring on any napkin and add it to your table. You can use another glue if you would like the kids to help with this project.

These fun napkin rings are perfect for a table with kids! Rudolph napkin rings are a fun and festive way to celebrate the holiday.

Elegant Napkin Rings For Adult Table
For a more elegant look, grab your decoupage and glitter. Any decoupage finish will work for this.

Step 1: Add Glitter To Napkin Ring
Paint the decoupage with a paintbrush onto just the antler portion of the napkin ring. Then sprinkle with glitter and dust off any excess. Allow this to dry completely.

Step 2: Add A Second Coat Of Decoupage
You may want to add a second coat of decoupage over the top to keep the glitter from shedding on your table. Allow it to dry completely before adding to your napkins.

These elegant deer napkin rings will be the hit of your holiday table.

So, which of these DIY Christmas napkin rings will you make this year? I know you will love how great either of these versions looks on your holiday table!
Tips And Tricks For DIY Christmas Napkin Rings
Now that you’ve seen how to create these DIY Christmas napkin rings, are you ready to make your own? Here are a few tips and tricks to ensure your project goes as smoothly as possible!
- Use Your Cricut Maker – If you don't have a Cricut Explore, you can use your Cricut Maker for this project as well!
- Stick With Thin Chipboard Or Kraftboard – You could cut out these napkin rings from cardstock; however, to make them extra sturdy as napkin rings, I highly recommend using the chipboard or kraftboard.
- Use Tacky Glue Or Hot Glue – When gluing the googly eyes and pom-pom to your napkin ring, you can use tacky glue or hot glue. Just remember if you have kids helping with this project, you will want to supervise them.
- Change The Color Of The Glitter – Depending on the look of your tablescape, you can change the color of the glitter for your reindeer antlers! For example, you could do gold, brown, or even silver.

So doggoned adorable, sure would cut few hours of hand cutting out and have item which would look so much more professional.
Can these napkin rings be made on Cricut One? Have yet to get mine installed, got to a step that had no idea what to do, was stalled there. Need to try again. Am so digitally challenged, embarrassing. Any suggestions? Maybe have to take it somewhere with laptop to install? Feel so stupid, little kid could install but not 76 yr. old woman, DUH!
Is frustrating not being able to install when I see so many incredible things could do with Cricut.
If you do reply could you please send me email, not just reply on my comment, pretty please.
Always enjoy your blog so much, wonderful posts every time.
Enjoy rest of week.
