Supplies needed to make a flower pot lighthouse:
Some links below may be affiliate links which means you don’t pay anymore but a portion of your purchase will go to support this site.
- Terra cotta pots in various sizes (you will need three that fit together, two saucers for the top, and one small one pot for the very top) (fit everything together in the store before purchasing)
- Glass dome (we love the faceted version shown)
- Outdoor paint
- Paint brush
- Clear glue good for outdoor use
- Battery operated candle
Start by painting your flower pots in the color of your choice. They may take two to four coats before getting complete coverage.
I painted the large pots in a color with a white band around the top edge. The saucers and small pot for the top were also painted in white. Allow the pots to dry in between coats and be sure to give them plenty of time to dry before moving them outside.
Glue the top pot to the saucer with a clear glue. Add the glue in about four spots leaving gaps in between. This will allow for any water to drain.
Those two top pieces should be glued together however they should NOT be glued to the glass dome. You want to be able to lift them on and off like a lid to work your candle.
You can glue the rest of the pieces together in a stack as shown below. Allow everything to dry completely before moving outdoors.
Once outdoors, turn on your battery operated candle for a fun touch in your garden. I am sure you could add a solar powered light to this as well. I just did not have one on hand.
You will love the look of this flower pot lighthouse in your garden. Pick up the supplies to make several as these would make great gifts anytime of the year. How many will you make? Pick the colors you love and start on your own terra cotta pot lighthouse today.
