I have a super quick and easy project for you today. This nautical art is perfect for bathrooms, beach houses, or any beach themed room that you have in your home. This one was first posted over at Buttons Galore and More last year but I am reposting it here because it still looks lovely in my bathroom! Grab those starfish and get crafty.
Supplies needed to make your own nautical art:
(some may be affiliate links where a portion of the sale goes to support this website)
- Wood Buttons
- Styrofoam Sheet (sheets work best for this project but a flat circle would also do the trick)
- White Pencil Starfish
- Styro Cutter or equivalent manual tool (a serrated knife will work but is messy)
- Hot Glue
- Scrap fabric
Begin by laying your buttons out on your Styrofoam in a pattern you love. Then mark the perimeter as shown below. NOTE: You should press your buttons into the Styrofoam once you decide on placement. This will make sure the buttons lie flat with the top surface.
Cut around the perimeter with a Styro Cutter, serrated knife, or other cutting tool.
Cover the front with a scrap piece of white fabric. Then use hot glue to add buttons, rope, and starfish.
Flip your nautical art over and add a rope for hanging to the back. I then placed this piece inside of an empty white frame in my bathroom.
However you hang it, you can enjoy this quick and easy nautical art year round in any beach themed room of your home.
