Zebra Birthday Theme
For those of you looking for a birthday party theme that is different from the traditional ones, why not choose a zebra birthday theme?! Your birthday girl will love seeing black, white, and pink all over, and you will love how simple it is to put together!
We recently threw a zebra-themed party for our tween daughter's 12th birthday, and not only was it a huge success, but it also gave me the perfect excuse to get crafty. So, today, I am sharing all the behind-the-scenes photos of the party and how I made each decor piece!
Zebra Streamers
First, let's start with these zebra streamers!
When it came time to plan my tween daughter's birthday party, I set her loose on Pinterest for ideas. She came back in love with some zebra streamers. The problem: I could not find them at any store near us, and I did not have time to order them. The solution — make my own zebra streamers!
I made our zebra streamers using a super simple stamping method. They were the focal point hanging from our chandelier light with some pink balloons.
Zebra Centerpieces
Next was decorating the table!
I decided to keep things simple and added a white tablecloth over my wooden table. Then I used zebra-stripped fabric, which I found marked down at Hobby Lobby, as a table runner. Finally, for the centerpieces, I created these fabric flowers in our party's color theme.
The best part was that the fabric flowers doubled as party favors, so all the guest got to pick and take home their favorite flower!
Zebra Banner
After the table was set, I wanted to add some more decor to our main party area. So, I made a bunting banner with felt that was super simple!
Also, before you ask, yes, they have zebra felt!! I found it at Walmart at such a great price.
To make the bunting or zebra banner, we cut our triangles from the felt in our party's theme colors. Then we sewed each felt triangle onto a long piece of ribbon.
It was very easy and oh so cute!
Zebra Cake
Finally, we can't have a zebra-themed birthday party and not have a zebra cake! However, this cake is extra special because it has a zebra print on the outside AND the inside!
I don't have a full tutorial for how to make the cake, but it's really straightforward. The cake itself was a marble cake that I made, then covered in white frosting.
After frosting the cake, I then cut out these zebra pattern Sugar Sheets from Wliton and added them around the edge of the cake.
Once the Sugar Sheets were added, I then made the number 12 and some decorative balls from fondant. I added those to the cake, then it was done!
Everyone loved it when the cake was cut because you could see the cool ”zebra pattern” on the inside. Plus, they thought the cake was delicious too!

The party was a smashing success, and I am one more year closer to having ANOTHER teenager…
