Looking for a fun new addition to your Christmas tree? These DIY plastic snow globe ornaments are made from small plastic jars, making them safe, durable, and kid-friendly. They’re perfect for homes with little ones and pets—and since each one takes about 15 minutes to make, you can easily create one or twenty in a single afternoon.

How To Make A DIY Plastic Snow Globe Ornament
Seriously, making snow globes has never been easier. This post is also a part of Craft Lightning, which means that we are sharing 15-minute holiday crafts all week. You can catch up with day 1, day 2, and day 3, or scroll to the bottom of this post to see the crafts from today.
Let's take a minute to remember all of those beautiful ornaments lost to curious toddlers, mischievous cats, and clumsy dogs! It's not their fault… ornaments are so beautiful, especially with the twinkling lights.
If you've lost too many ornaments, this craft is perfect for you! So, instead of wrapping your tree in bubble wrap, try out a few more plastic or non-fragile ornaments:
Supplies Needed To Make A DIY Plastic Snow Globe Ornament
- Plastic jar ornaments (the product I am sure you've all been searching for)
- Bottle brush trees (sized to fit inside jar ornaments above)
- Fake snow
- Hot glue and glue gun
- Ribbon
- Scissors
NOTE: I literally squealed when I found these plastic mason jar ornaments. How great are these? They are perfect for your tree, and you can create a variety of ornaments with them. I did a simple snow globe, but the possibilities are endless. Yes, I totally have a thing for all things mason jar!

Step 1: Glue Tree Inside Lid
Hot glue your mini bottle brush tree to the inside lid of the plastic jar ornament. These lids unscrew from the plastic jar.

Step 2: Add Fake Snow
Add a little bit of fake snow to the inside of your jar, replace the lid, and then turn it over and over for some snow globe fun.
Step 3: Add Ribbon Hanger
Finally, I added a simple ribbon for hanging on my tree. I kept mine monochromatic with an all-white color scheme, but you can add any color tree you would like to the inside of this project. Think about other miniatures that would work inside as well. I can see an entire plastic snow globe tree filled with mini trees in this jar shape. Can't you?

I am off to think of more ideas using these ornaments! Yes, I am that in love with them!
