I am joining in with a few blog friend today for a fun Dr. Seuss inspired celebration. You can check out how to make this Cat in the Hat plate and cookies first. Then scroll down to the bottom of this post to see tons of Seuss inspiration for Read Across America day or any day of the year. Hold onto your red and white striped hats y’all!
First lets make those Cat in the Hat inspired cookies. Start with Nutter Butter cookies and coat them in white chocolate or white candy bark. Use a red gel icing to add those stripes. Allow to set up.
In the meantime, you can make some fun Cat in the Hat plates to go with your cookies. Start by clicking here or on the image below. You will want to download this image to your computer and print in about a 4 x 6 size for a saucer size plate. Hang on just a sec….we are going to print this image on TISSUE paper! Just wrap a piece of white cardstock with white tissue paper and use tape to secure in the back. The shiny side of the tissue paper should be against the cardstock. Then print the image of your choice onto the matte side of the tissue paper.
You have printed tissue paper that is ready to decoupage. I am using plate plastic plates from the Dollar Tree as my base.
Apply decoupage to the back of the plate and apply the tissue paper in the correct location. Press down lightly then trim the excess with scissors. Allow to dry completely then apply a coat of decoupage on the back of the tissue paper as well to protect it. Allow to dry before using the plate.
Just drop those cookies onto the plate for a fun treat that will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss! This is a super simple and inexpensive craft that anyone can do. Older kids can actually make their own plates as well. If you love Cat in the Hat, you need to make these cookies and plates ASAP!
I promised y’all some more Dr. Seuss fun! Just scroll down to the images below. You can click on any of the pictures to be taken to a page that has the craft as well as instructions on how to make it for yourself. Y’all enjoy all of these great Dr. Seuss themed crafts.
