This superhero-themed teacher appreciation gift in a jar is an ideal choice for end-of-the-year celebrations or Teacher Appreciation Week. If you’re looking for a fun and thoughtful gift for any teacher, this cute and practical idea is perfect. You can fill the jar with any items that your teacher will love and that fit inside. Gift it to any teacher who is a hero to your child!
This post is sponsored by Cricut; however, all projects and opinions are my own.

After a year with our kids, we can all agree that teachers deserve great gifts. They work hard with their students and ask for so little in return.
I have plenty of teacher appreciation gifts on this site. I believe that the more creative you are, the better! Anyone can buy a gift card, but gifts given with thought, consideration, and creativity are always appreciated.
You know how much I love mason jars, so it only seemed fitting that my favorite gifts to give come in mason jars. Now, you can fill this jar with homemade sugar scrubs, candy, notes, stickers, gift cards, or any other small token gifts.
This was originally posted in 2016 and has been updated to include new Cricut Design Space instructions.
How to Make a Superhero Teacher Appreciation Gift in a Jar
Supplies needed:
- Cricut Machine
- Red and yellow card stock
- White cardstock
- Printer
- Red felt
- Mason jar
- Blue spray paint
- Red spray paint
- Adhesive runner
- Hot glue and glue gun
Step 1 – Paint Your Mason Jar
Start by painting your mason jar blue with the spray paint and allowing it to dry.
Step 2 – Create Your Superhero Graphic
While the paint is drying, open up Cricut Design Space to a blank canvas. Under “Shapes,” select the shape you’d like to use. The one I’m using below is included with a Cricut Access subscription.
Then add an offset to create the look of the outline.
After adjusting the colors on the canvas, add a “T” (for teacher) to the graphic. You can see in the layers panel that there are now three different objects on the canvas.
Since we will be cutting this out using cardstock, duplicate the bottom (red) layer to create multiple layers.
From there, change the new large shield to yellow and select the original two layers (red and yellow) and slice them. The goal is to have the red outline be the same size as the new yellow layer.
Then delete the slices that you don’t need and reassemble everything. Then move the “T” to the center, select the red outline and the “T,” and click Unite. You’ve designed your superhero teacher appreciation graphic.
You’re now ready to send them to cut by clicking Make. You can see that both layers are sorted by mat color.
Step 3 – Cut Your Cardstock
Place your cardstock on your cutting mats and send them to cut in your Cricut. (In the example below, the “T” was not united with the outline. Oops!)
Then use an adhesive runner to attach the pieces together.
Step 4 – Make The Cape
Cut a piece of red felt approximately 7 inches long and slightly shorter than the jar is tall. It should go from the neck of the jar to almost the bottom.
Use hot glue to put the felt cape on the painted jar. I gathered the cape on both sides when gluing as shown in the image below.
Use additional hot glue to apply the “T” shield logo to the front of the jar, as shown below.
Step 5 – Personalize The Lid
Now we also need to create an awesome lid! Paint the band of the mason jar lid with red spray paint and let it dry completely.
Then go back into Cricut Design Space to create a personalized message for the lid. Measure your lid and add a circle the size of your lid, and make it red. Then add letters that read “Teacher, you are my hero”.
Next, center the text in the circle and change the text to white. Then, select both the circle and text and flatten them to create a Print then Cut item. I printed on white cardstock, then used my Cricut to cut out the circle.
After your lid top is printed and cut, add it to the top of the jar (no glue needed).
Screw the entire thing onto the mason jar as shown below.
Step 6 – Fill Superhero Teacher Appreciation Jar
Now you just need to fill your jar with goodies or treats for your Superhero Teacher.
They will love receiving this token of your appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week or any time.
This adorable mason jar is sure to brighten the day of any teacher! Make our superhero teacher appreciation gift in a jar for every teacher your child has this year, and let them know how special they are.

Thank you for the idea and the cricut template! I was able to swap out the T to personalize it for my daughter’s teacher and the teacher’s aide. I filled the jar with pencils and pens and labeled each with a miniature logo as well.
