Did you know that you can paint jars with food color? Yes you can! It is a quick, easy, and super inexpensive way to add color to any jar. Y’all already know about my jar obsession…then I saw these painted jars….I just had to make some.
Supplies needed for painting jars with food color:
- White glue (school glue works great)
- Food coloring (any type will work)
- Jars (I actually used old mayonnaise jars but any will work)
Yes this may very well be the cheapest project ever! I literally had everything I needed to make these in my cabinets already.
I mixed the glue with a few drops of red and dabbed it on with a piece of a sponge. Here they are still wet…
And all dry with my table runner…
I added some epsom salt to my jars and a chocolate brown votive. You can make these same jars in any color of the rainbow. Mix and match different food colorings to get the jar of your dreams.
But I just could not stop there. I found these little galvanized circles and just had to do something with them. I punched a hole in em with my crop-a-dile, freehanded a blue bird, and tied em on with twine.
So basically for a few pennies I have some table decor. Next time I may go with blue, green, yellow….the possibilities are endless!
Will you try painting jars with food color? I guarantee you will love the results. If you are looking for a way to add some slight color but still let the light shine through, this is the project for you. Grab the supplies that you probably already have around your home and get started today. After all, this is probably the least inexpensive project of all time!
