Can y’all stand any more party fun? These DIY cupcake toppers with labels are so easy to make, and they are just too cute. This DIY is part of a series of party crafts that is a craft video series on Crafty Hangouts. You can watch all of the party craft videos there if you would like. Also, earlier this week, I posted a mason jar party centerpiece that would coordinate perfectly with these cupcake toppers. Right now, let’s make some super-simple cupcake toppers with labels!

DIY Cupcake Toppers Video Tutorial
You can watch the video below to see how to make these DIY cupcake toppers LIVE in just a few minutes! I make one of the scalloped versions as well as one of the triangle versions. My friend Carolina, with 30 Minute Crafts, also makes some fun toppers for mini donuts using a flag label.

How To Make DIY Cupcake Toppers
To make these DIY cupcake toppers, I used the colors orange and pink, but you can use any colors that you prefer! Also, when it comes to the paper straws, you can use a solid color or a pattern. However, I would make sure that the color of the straw matches your labels so everything coordinates nicely.
Once you have your labels and straws picked out, you are ready to make your DIY cupcake toppers.
Supplies Needed To Make DIY Cupcake Toppers
- Paper straws (I used these Orange Paper Straws and Pink Paper Straws)
- Scalloped Edge Labels (OL1027) (in fluorescent pink and orange)
- Triangle Labels (OL1058) (in fluorescent pink and orange)
- Printable “Happy Birthday” file
- Printer and ink
Step 1: Cut Paper Straws
Cut paper straws in half.
Step 2: Fatten Paper Straws
Flatten one end of the paper straw with your fingers.
Step 3: Apply Printed Label
Apply the printed label to one side.
Step 4: Apply Non-Printed Label
Apply a non-printed label to the other side, being sure to line them up.
Step 5: Add Topper To Cupcake
Stick in a cupcake and enjoy your party!

These labels are also great for other party elements! I stuck them to the front of some buckets as well to make some great party favors. I will fill each bucket with treats and surprises for the party. Of course, you can also use the triangle labels to make this mason jar centerpiece, and I will have a decorated cupcake stand here tomorrow using the same labels.

Ordering a few sheets of labels that coordinate with your party theme is the best thing you can do to throw an amazing birthday bash. Make coordinating elements with your labels easily, and your party will look like a custom party thrown by a professional. Using labels is one of my top tricks for all of my kids’ birthday parties!
I hope you have enjoyed these cupcake toppers with labels and will use this idea for your own coordinated birthday party!
FAQs About DIY Cupcake Toppers
Here are a couple of questions that I see readers ask about these DIY cupcake toppers. If you have a question, please check to see if I’ve already answered it below. Don’t see your question? Leave it for me in the comments!
Do Online Labels Carry Other Colors Besides Fluorescent Pink And Orange?
Yes! I opted for fluorescent pink and orange labels for this project because they matched the look I was going for. However, Online Labels does offer a wide variety of colors, ranging from matte white to fluorescent orange.
What Printer Would You Recommend For Printables In General?
I love using this printer!
Could I Use Toothpicks Instead Of Paper Straws?
Due to the size of the labels, I wouldn’t recommend it. The paper straws give you more height to work with and are more sturdy (for these size labels) than a traditional toothpick.
