This week is all about graduation party ideas, and this “Words of Wisdom for Graduates” jar is a great addition! Yesterday, I shared free printable graduation advice cards. - This project is made with Design Space files. Click here for my profile. Once on my profile, find the image of the project you want to create, click it to customize, and then you can make it your own.

Step 1: Open The Design File & Customize It
Open this file in Cricut Design Space and customize it to your child's name.

Step 2: Cut & Weed Vinyl
Cut the file from two colors of regular vinyl. You can choose colors that match your graduation party.

Step 3: Layer Vinyl Pieces Together
Use the transfer tape to layer the vinyl, preparing it for the jar. Line up the two using the hat as a guide.

Step 4: Add Vinyl to Jar
Add the vinyl piece to the jar, press it firmly into place, and remove the transfer tape. Print your graduation advice cards, and it is ready for your party!

Stay tuned for more graduation party ideas. I'm sure there will be more coming soon. This one is perfect for using as a guest book. Have each guest fill out an advice card and just drop it in the jar.

In the end, your jar will be filled with words of wisdom for the graduate. Want to see how we used this at the party we threw? You can check out our high school graduation party ideas here.

FAQs About Words Of Wisdom For Graduate Jar
Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions I receive about creating this word of wisdom for the graduate jar. If your question isn’t listed, feel free to drop it in the comments and I’ll be happy to help!
What Cricut Machine Can I Use For This Project?
All of them! The Cricut Maker, Cricut Explore, and Cricut Joy series, as well as the Cricut Venture, can be used to cut the design for this project?
Can I Use Any Jar For This Project?
Technically, yes. However, you want to use a jar that is big enough to hold your graduation advice cards, and you want to use a jar that is smooth so you can apply your vinyl easily.
I'm Using A Household Jar For This Project. Do You Have Any Tips For Removing Jar Labels?
Good question! If you are using jars from your kitchen (such as pickle jars, jam jars, etc.), there are several ways to remove the original label.
For jars like this, I let them soak in warm, soapy water, then use a scraper to remove the label. This usually works for me, but if you are dealing with a stubborn label, the following are a few additional steps you can take.
- Pour hot water into the jar, let it sit, and the label on the outside will loosen up.Â
- Create a mixture of dish soap and vinegar.
- Apply heat to the label using a hair dryer.
I'm Using A Household Jar For This Project. Do You Have Any Tips for Removing Sticky Residue from Your Jars?
To remove any sticky residue from jars, I used Goo Gone, along with soap and water. However, if you don’t like the smell of Goo Gone or need alternative options, the following are a few suggestions.
- Adhesive Removers (like 3M Adhesive Remover, Un-Du, etc.)
- White vinegar
