Make your own DIY nautical candle holder in minutes using ropes. This super easy DIY turns out so cute with some and a hot glue gun.
The beach is calling my name.
Unfortunately, I can’t head to the waves right now so some beach-inspired nautical decor will have to suffice.
I love nautical decor, especially as part of a beach bathroom vibe.
Let me show you how you can make this DIY Nautical Candle Holder to add to your beach bathroom (or other room) decor.
You can adapt this technique to any surface to make a different type of DIY beach craft as well.
Supplies needed to make DIY Nautical Candle Holder:
- Black Metal & Glass Candle Holder (any surface will work here)
- Battery Operated Pillar Candle
- Jute Rope (I used 3 of the 9 foot coils)
- Hot Glue and Glue Gun
- Crushed Shells
- Scissors
How to Make a DIY Nautical Candle Holder
Start by securing your rope to your candle holder using a hot glue gun. Then start wrapping rope around your candle holder. Make sure and wrap tightly so your surface does not show through. Here the black base hides any imperfections well. If your candle holder is a brighter color, you could paint it black first to help camouflage it more.
Be sure to wrap all of the surfaces. Here we are even wrapping rope up under the base. You want your finished DIY beach decor to look good from all angles. When you run out of one length of rope, just butt up with the end on the next length and keep wrapping.
When the base of this one was complete, we also did a few wraps on the top band of the candle holder. Look at your piece for any surfaces that may need to be wrapped to complete the beach look and get creative with it.
Once finished, we added a battery operated candle inside the candle holder as well as some crushed beach shells to complete the project.

Don’t they look good paired together for a beachy vibe?
This would work well in a beach-themed bathroom, bedroom, or of course at a beach house!
