Hello there Country Chic Cottage friends! We’re so excited to be over today. We love (love!) Angie and are thrilled to be a part of her Mother’s Day celebrations.
I am Kirstin, half of a sister team that blogs over at kojodesigns. If you read through our blog, or stop by to visit, you’ll quickly catch on to the fact that we love garlands. We think they’re appropriate decor for every shower or party and we love giving them as gifts.

For Mother’s Day, then, what could be better than a garland tailored specifically to your mom? Want to make one? Here’s what you’ll need:
-cream colored cardstock rectangles (mine were 4″x7″)
-a printer
-a sewing machine

1. Make a list of the things you love about your mom. You can even get your kids involved and ask them what their favorite things are about their grandma. Print out, one word (or phrase) at a time. I typed out each word, and surrounded with a border. Several words/phrases fit on each 8.5″x11″ sheet of cardstock. I also printed out her name several times and placed it sporadically throughout the garland.

2. Cut into individual words and phrases. Round the corners of each rectangle.

3. Set up your sewing machine with thread that coordinates with the ink color you chose (mine was red). Pull out a long ‘tail’ of thread and feed your pieces of cardstock through the sewing machine. Be sure to stitch a few times between each piece of paper in order to leave a little space between each word.

4. Hang as a tribute to your mama for Mother’s Day. I can guarantee that she’ll love it!

Thanks again for having us Angie! If you have a chance, come visit us at kojodesigns (there’s more garland goodness than you can imagine, but we have other interests too).
